When was the last time your site an update? It's just with new content or a complete overhaul?
We all looked at our site and thought, "I really have to go and update that."
But it is something that often pushes the bottom of the list, and the old content is there for much longer than expected. Part of the problem is that not always know exactly what we put in our site.
This occurs when a web (or redesign) project site is designed. The web design company plans to offer content for the site. But the business owner does not always know what to offer or have a good process to the contents of the site.
This can sometimes take a long time and cause frustration on both sides. Especially if you are working with a designer alone, unlike a marketing company in general. Once the designer has the content, they can work their magic. But neither is really ready to create content to be effective and are part of a marketing strategy more.
This is what I call the "content of obstacles."
Often
companies end up back in the "formula of the booklet," content creation
company (the ubiquitous page "About Us".) They did not use tools to
exploit more power site could provide.
In my work, I have developed a process to create content for websites. I found the questions to ask and what parts to create. I
recommend getting help to guide you through the process, make sure your
content is really effective, and check to make sure it comes true.
But
if you are a web designer struggling with their customers or small
business want to update your site, here are some of the steps I take to
create your site content.
# 1 - Identify your visitors are ideal
Get clear on who you talk to. You've probably heard this before, but have you taken the time to write? I like to write about my visitors and potential customers are, and put it on the site. So I can say, "Hey, do you like?" This way, people can self-select, and engage more with my business if an ideal client.
# 2 - know what they want, and give them
Once you have identified who you talk to, and let them know that you talk to them, you must provide a certain value. To do this, you should know what they want. Give people information about what you can provide for them is good. But give them a bit of what you might use is now even more powerful.
# 3 - Tell them what to do
Your visitors will spend little time on your site (a few seconds to a few minutes if you're lucky). Then they will be gone. It
is important to understand the information or contact them somehow
while they are there for you to keep in touch with them and continue the
relationship. There
are many things that could be a "call to action", but it is important
to be strategic and specific action you want your visitors to take.
# 4 - Building a relationship
This is the part I like best, but often overlooked. The most important thing we have to do with potential customers is to establish a relationship with them. Build the "know, like, and trust factor." We usually record this part when we talk to people on the phone or in person. But our site is the perfect place to plant the seeds of the relationship instead. Three steps above may play a role in building the relationship, but a relationship has two sides. This
must also be presented in such a way that you are a participant in the
process, not just a bio with a list of accomplishments.
